Patch Adams Health Care Revolution – Can This Really Work?

by Joshua Parker on August 24, 2011

The Patch Adams Film with Robin Williams was a huge success in 1998 and documented the work of the health care revolutionary Dr Hunter “Patch” Adams who actually ran a free hospital about 40 years ago and his since been sharing insight on the type of radical shift needed in today’s medical practice.

I recently had the honor to see and capture on video a talk by the *real* Patch Adams here in Oregon where I live. Here it is – let me know what you think about this with a quick comment here or on youtube:

Love him, I had the privilege of seeing him in 2007 in Iowa. I have a picture of myself with him I just love. It’s to bad Hollywood took advantage of him for the Patch Adams Movie and didn’t pay him for that. His Hospital in Virginia runs on donations alone if you or anyone can help please do, it is a great place to help out if you really want to know your donation goes to help the sick instead of some CEO’s pocket. He’s an Angel in my book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation. I am currently studying to be a nurse practioner. I want to practice in an underserved area and I believe that when we give our bodies the things that they require, our bodies have the capacity to heal themselves. I believe we are an overmedicated society. Keep up the good work. Love the info that was shared.

What a great presentation! I’d seen the movie and knew he was an unusual doctor. Now I know what a fabulous human being he is. Wouldn’t it be wonderful (and I do mean full of wonder) if we could model ourselves and our feelings in his likeness. We just might be able to save the world!

Great video, thanks for everything you do. Thanks for so freely sharing your work, your research on Dr Royal Raymond Rife is unparallelled. Please know that what you do is very much appreciated. Lyme infection took me down for 7 years, the first 5 trying to figure out what was happening to me.
